Batch Number

The "batch number" or "lot number" is an identification label affixed to a product or a group of products for the purpose of identification and traceability. In the industry, especially in the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical sectors, it is common to use batch numbers for the manufacturing and processing of products.

In the context of sampling bulk materials, the batch number is particularly important as it allows for associating the sampling results with a specific batch. This can be important for several reasons:

  1. Quality Control: By linking the sampling results to a specific batch, it can be verified whether that batch meets the required specifications and standards.
  2. Traceability: In the event of an issue such as contamination or quality deficiency, the batch number enables the traceability of affected products. This can help identify the root cause of the problem and swiftly and efficiently remove affected products from the market.
  3. Process Monitoring and Optimization: Analyzing the sampling results by batches can help identify trends and patterns in the production processes, contributing to their optimization.

Therefore, when sampling bulk materials, it is customary to label the taken sample with the corresponding batch number to ensure accurate documentation and traceability.
