Rotary valve

A rotary valve, also known as a rotary flap lock or rotor lock, is a device used in many industrial sectors to regulate the flow of bulk materials from silos or other containers.

The rotary valve consists of a round housing with a rotating disc (the rotary wheel) inside. This disc is divided into several compartments or "cells". When the cell wheel rotates, it fills with bulk material from the container and then, as it continues to rotate, empties this bulk material into an outlet. In this way, the bulk material can be drained from the container in a controlled manner.

In bulk material sampling, a rotary valve can be used to take representative samples from the bulk material. The rotary valve can be adjusted to remove a certain amount of bulk material at regular intervals or at specific times. The samples taken can then be further processed for analysis and quality assurance.

Another important advantage of a rotary valve is that it does not damage or alter the bulk material during the sampling process. This is especially important if the bulk material is delicate or its properties can be easily changed, such as in the case of certain foods or chemical substances.
