Stroke

In bulk material sampling, the term "stroke" typically refers to the movement or process by which a sample is taken from the material stream.

In many automated or mechanized sampling systems, a sampling unit such as a sampler is moved into and out of the material stream to extract a sample. This movement process, known as the "stroke," can occur in various directions (vertical, horizontal, or a combination) and can be controlled in different ways (manual, motorized, pneumatic, hydraulic, etc.), depending on the specific design of the sampling system and the sampling requirements.

It's crucial that the stroke is controlled and executed in a manner that captures a representative sample, accurately reflecting the characteristics of the entire material. This may involve careful planning and control of the movement speed, trajectory, timing, and duration of the stroke. Additionally, the stroke should be designed to ensure the safety of operational personnel and not compromise the integrity of the material and the sampling system.
